Kanchenjunga Region lies in the Far Eastern part of Nepal and is home to the world’s third highest mountain – Mount Kanchenjunga 8,586m. It was first climbed in 1955 by Joe Brown and George Band of the British Expedition team. In 1977, a team of the Indian Army made the second ascent on the northeast ridge from Sikkim on the Indian side.
The Kanchenjunga trek is considered one of the finest in the Nepal Himalayas but lies in the shadow of the famous Everest BC trek. Traversing the remote and rarely-visited northeastern corner of Nepal, our trekking route to Kanchenjunga leads through picturesque farmland and rugged valleys to the base camp. The variant program chosen by us, trekking to South Base Camp first and then to North Base Camp, guarantees the best acclimatization and also offers the magical views of the Himalayas including Makalu, Chamlang, Everest, and Kanchenjunga
During the trek you will be passing through a varied range of vegetation: - from subtropical jungle to rhododendrons and the alpine zone. This region is also famous for endangered animals - Red pandas and the elusive snow leopards that prowl at higher elevations. You see traditional villages with Rai, Limbu, and Tibetan Buddhist ethnic groups.
