Frequently Asked Questions

You can buy the local SIM cards at the Kathmandu Airport or in Thamel shops; you will need to provide a photocopy of your passport and Nepal Visa and one passport photo.  

NTC (Nepal Telecom Govt owned) & Ncell (Private operator) are the biggest Network operators in Nepal.  Over the years, mobile/cell phone networks has significantly improved in the remote areas of Nepal. But weather condition plays a pivotal role; on cloudy or bad weather conditions, the connection usually doesn’t work.

In the Everest region, both NTC and Ncell Network work but NTC has better coverage. In other places such as East Nepal towards Tumlimgtar and west in the Annapurna region, Nepal Telecom has better coverage than Ncell.

Whereas in the remote region treks and expeditions where there are no network coverage, we send a SATELLITE Phone for emergency communication.

It is essential to respect the local culture, traditions, and customs; Advisable to dress modestly, learn basic phrases in the local language, be mindful of religious practices, and be respectful towards locals. It is also important to be open-minded, embrace cultural differences, and engage in meaningful interactions to enhance the travel experience.

We prioritize "Leave No Trace" in all of our trips in the Himalayas. In Khumbu trips, we support Carry Me Back - an initiative by Sagarmatha Next project, which is actively involved in waste management in the Everest region.

For our other trekking and climbing trips, we encourage our clients to stay on designated trails, respect wildlife, minimize noise pollution, and use eco-friendly products. 

 

There is always a risk of getting sick or into accidents when travelling or doing adventure activities. Having said this, our programs are crafted in such a way as to allow proper acclimatization to high altitudes.

If you are in Kathmandu, there number of international standard clinics and hospitals where you can go for treatment. CIWEIC Clinic, HAMS Hospital, Norvic Hospital to name a few.

In Pokhara, there is a sub-branch of the CIWEIC clinic.

However, while trekking in remote regions, few Health Post with basic medical facilities are available (or none at all). Hence, we sent a comprehensive medical kit with each group. Our guides are well-trained in Wilderness First Aid as they are the first responders to your call.

For serious illness or accidents, we will arrange a helicopter evacuation to Kathmandu for treatment. Hence, we recommend all of our guests to have proper Insurance that covers rescue and evacuation.    

To prepare for a trekking expedition, it is recommended to engage in regular physical exercise such as hiking, walking, jogging, or biking to build endurance and strengthen muscles. It is also important to stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet, and get sufficient rest to ensure physical fitness and stamina during the trek.

For any sort of travel or adventure, it is always crucial to pack essential gear, proper clothing, and trust-worthy equipment for your own safety and the team's as well.
