KHANG KARPO EXPEDITION
Khang Karpo 6646m, is one of the recently opened trekking peaks in 2014. It lies in the Rolwaling Valley of Eastern Nepal and stands at the end of the Ripimo Glacier on the borderline between Nepal and Tibet. The path to this mountain leads us through the Rolwaling valley – one of the off-beaten trekking routes of Eastern Nepal providing you with a unique trekking experience encountering nature in its raw form.
The Rolwaling Valley has equal religious value as it is believed that the Buddhist Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) rested and meditated here for several months; the stone carvings and monasteries in the area are evidence of this. For the climb, we will use the North West ridge to the summit, which passes through numerous hanging Glaciers. The Climb to the Summit is challenging but more rewarding as it offers a closer view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, Shisha Pangma, Gyachung Khang, Nuptse, Cho-Garu (Melungtse) and many more Peaks around it.
We are proud to include that Khang Karpo’s first Ascent was made by the team led by our Director Mr. Nima Tenzing Sherpa IFMGA guide with fellow Climbing members Squash Falconer (UK), Alison Levine (US), Kath Staniland (UK), Gopal Shrestha, Phurba Tenjing Sherpa, Tsering Pemba and Lakpa Nurbu Sherpa (Nepal) in the year 2016.
