ISLAND PEAK CLIMB

Island peak (6,189m/20,305ft) was named by members of the 1953 British Mount Everest expedition team because it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. It was later renamed in 1983 to Imja Tse but Island Peak remains the popular choice. Island Peak is one of the main climbing peaks in the Everest Region of Nepal with an impressive and highly glaciated West Face that rises from the Lhotse Glacier.  It is one of the easy choices for the beginner climbers who wish to enter into the world of mountaineering due to very little technical aspect. It can be climbed in both spring and autumn.
